I have noticed lately that my 2004 Passat Highline seems to have a very bouncy ride and wallows badly particularly when going over bumps at speed or with a few passengers on board. As it has done 150k miles and the suspension is all original I am thinking of replacing the shock absorbers. I am going to replace the rears first as these seem to be the worst and they look fairly straightforward to do. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to source replacements from / recommended brands? I would like to keep the car as original as possible but appreciate that dealers are quite often expensive for this type of item. I have seen the following on Ebay which appear to be reasonably priced, I was just wondering if anyone has used this brand on their vehicle and would they recommend them?

    Thanks for any feedback,

    Pete

Thanks for that. I take it they are quite easy to fit then? I will probably replace the fronts also but I don't fancy tackling that myself as it looks as though the suspension has to be partially dismantled.

easy yes . 2 bolts at top of inner wheel arch and main carrier bolt at bottom on arm . also when you take them off there is 1 bolt at top of shock absorber itself to undo to remove plastic boot/shroud . took me about 30 mins - 1 hr o do both of mine with just a jack and minimum tools , oh and the wheel came in useful to to rest arm on to locate bottom pin in place again lol .
