Im thinking about getting a golf v6 4 motion due to my V5 being highly unreliable from day one and very underpowered .
I drove a v6 and they look and feel beautiful to drive but im thinking about having a r32 engine put in it ,is this possible?
Speaking mainly on the engine side because i know the r32 has bigger brakes etc.
I know there both V6's but is the only differences the piston and bore sizes? Or is there any sensors/wiring which differs and are the manifolds, mounts and pipes the same?
Also what engine Code should i be looking for on the r32 lump as i think i was told there are two.
    Anyone done this before?

I have a saying, “never build a car you can buy”. If you want an R32, go and buy one as building one in a 4-M will ultimately cost you more than buying one.

I kinda agree with crasher although it would fit but you'll prob have to change looms, ecu, almost everything i would think.
I have the v6 4 motion and gotta say I love it !!
might treat it to a remap and exhaust soon.

im not looking for a r32, im more than happy with a 2.8 v6, but i have found a r32 engine going cheap. So im just wondering if i tried putting it in would it fit without too much modification? obviously i will get the 4 motion ecu remapped to a r32 map.

Like i said not after a r32 just would be nice to have a r32 engine, obviously r32 have different suspension setup, arb setup, bodykit ,interior etc.
Just as there both v6's i thought the looms, gearbox, 4wd system, mounts would be the same .

The base engine units are pretty much the same. Why is the R32 engine going cheap? They are as rare as hen’s teeth!

engines comming out of a r32 in a salvage yard thats all im going to say as i dont want to give too much info in case someone else snatches it.
    Are they that rare though?
If the base is basically the same the loom and sensors should be very simular should'nt they?
Also are the manifolds the same or would i need to buy the r32 ones aswell.

Golf 4 2.8 and 3.2 VR6 engines (BDE, BFH and BML) are almost identical in their base unit (head and block) form.

The AUE is much earlier, up to 2001 so there may be some differences that I have not thought of. As I have tried to say, I would not do this conversion so I cannot advise any further.

no problems im not 100% on it myself yet as i can see a few problems already just testing the water.
I think the aue has only a single coil pack where as the post 2001 v6's have individual coil packs so there will be an issie there unless there is a r32 engine model which also has a single coil pack.
Also the aue has only one vvt on the inlet side while i think the r32 has two one one the inlet and one on the exhaust which i may be able to get around if the 4 motion exhaust manifold fits the r32.
Also Thanks for your help crasher
