New (rather 2nd hand) Bora owner. Sorry lots of questions

Is the cental locking supposed to unlock the boot? The only way I can open it is by turning the key to the left? This can't be right?? If it's not, is it fixable-how?

    Cheers

    Frank

    Allright Frank,
Read the handbook, it explains how to unlock with the central locking. From memory, you have to turn the boot lock to a position not sure, I think its 90 deg left or right withdraw key and leave it in this position all the time. To unlock with central locking depress the key fob twice quickly in succession when unlocking the vehicle. Pressing once will only unlock drivers door.
    All the best

Tried all that. It seems the cetnral locking is not working fully. The only way to unlock the bugger is by manual overide.

I had that problem for ages, realised my lock was in the horizontal postion, make sure its vertical and your pressing the key pad twice to unlock the whole car not just once for the drivers door.

Failing that the wires may have came off the solenoid, you'll have to take off the rear cover and re attach the wires, pref using 2" of your own wire, as the originals are a bit short, thus preventing it happening again.

The actuater for the boot release sticks, remove it and lubricate it whilst pushing it in and pulling it out.Or replace it.Also give the mechanism a spray and the barrel assembly and check the barrel position, which has been mentioned

Key is definitely in vertical position. Must be a wiring problem...

If your gentle enough with a big flat blade driver, gently take the boot panel off and as above post by A8, check the wires etc.

the boot catch on my mk5 golf can also be a little odd.

It works properly, unlocks by remote double press, the middle button, and the button on the door, but sometimes i go to open the boot knowing it is unlocked - standard procedure, lift the badge, the catch opens and you lift the tailgate - only sometimes the doesn't totaly let go of whatever it holds on to, so it is not closed properly but it won't lift either.

    I can live with it.

    Very odd.
