Hello, I've recently purchased a 1999 Audi A6 2.5 TDI. It had already been slightly modified with a Quattro spoiler and 18" RS style wheels etc and is black so still looks pretty cool.
Both headlights are slightly faded and let the car down a bit. I've looked at second hand OEM replacements and they are fairly pricey but found these on EBAY and wondered if anyone had already fitted them?

I also cannot find out if you can also fit a xenon kit to these lights or not as I was concerned that bright leds would look odd with yellow headlamps.

Does anyone have any experience of these?

    Thanks in advance.

HodyA6 - I'm planning on fitting that very system. How are you finding them? Any problems at MOT? Were they easy to install?

    Cheers

Very easy to fit just remove the plastic covers from behind the bulbs, drill the hole downwards for the rubber gromet then insert the bulb you might have to slightly modify the metal bulb retainer to get the new bulb in due to it having the wiring attached, then just connect it all up.
Dont forget to hoover the plastic bits out first from drilling otherwise your headlight will draw them in due to static.I got mine checked with my local garage and they were fine, total transformation in driving light.

Yes they are a good price for the xenon kit, but wouldn't make any difference to the appearance of my faded headlamp units (its the plastic that's gone dull).
There are angel eye conversion headlamps for less than £200 but I've heard bad things about those. OEM are just crazy money.
Any suggestions for a better headlamp not bulb conversion?
Or any good suppliers of patterned OEM headlamps that are cheap?

my plastic had gone dull, so as as had free time at the weekend sanded one down and polished the plastic.
Took 1/2 hour as did it by hand.

Now have one very silver shiny one, and one orange faded one.

looks daft, so next weekend will have to do the other side.

    They come up like new.

I didn't realise that was possible..... how fine a grade of paper did you use...I would have expected it to scratch ?

Sounds like a great idea ......tell me more........thanks.

I used 800, 1000, 1200 grade wet paper, followed by starbright marine gel coat cutting compound. (gel coat is polyestor resin, so polishes similar to plastic)

scary when you start, as the plastic goes totally white, but it comes back as you get finer and then polish.
I used a polish wheel on a battery drill - don't use mains as if it gets hot the plastic will melt.
    keep moving over the lense.

loads of examples on you tube, of peeople doing it

I'm definitely going to try it. Did you seal it with anything as some 'you tubers' are suggesting it dulls back over if not?

I might try one of those kits including sealant and start with the wet paper you suggest.

    Thanks again.
