New to this forum and require some advice please

I have a 130 tdi engine asz that has developed a fault. It is hesitent on acceleration black sooty smoke from the exhaust and is using more fuel. There has been hissing type noise whilst accelerating which someone said could be a split hose from the intercooler. I have taken off the metal hose that come from the bottom of the intercooler along to a rubber hose that goes into the side of the turbo. I can not see any splits and all pipes were seated ok, apart from the one that fits into the side of the turbo. It had about 1/4 inch of movement in and out after removing i noticed a bit of wear inside the turbo where the pipes slots into. Is this normal and would it cause my problem?

Yeah that could easily be your problem mate, the standard turbo pipe fixings are poor to be honest with people like sps doing replacements for this reason, your pipes may feel ok by hand but golf diesels run about a bar of pressure which underload makes the pipes move causing the hose to try and pull itself free, this then wears the lugs down on the hoses so the clips are holding in situ as good as they used to,this was a big problem i had for a while on my mapped 150gttdi on the FMIC hoses
I dont work here for the pay,or the enjoyment,so why do i work here

Hi thanks for your reply. After having a second look i found the problem is a crack in the actual intercooler! I now have to locate a standard replacement. |Has anyone any reccomendations of locating one and a part number. Would prefer a second hand one as they are about £150 new.
