    Hi lads,
    Got a bit of a problem with 2005 caddy. It started with glow plug light flashing and bit hard to start. My local vw dealer informed me that the most likely cause was a glow plug control unit with no. 461 on top
    Another (maybe unrelated) problem has since developed that my brake lights won't switch off. I replaced front and rear pads and noticed the lights staying on the next day. Cant seem to link replacing pads with faulty brake light switch but could there be a link?

    I replaced brake light switch according to these guidelines
    id=1158315"]http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1158315[/URL]
    Now no brake light at all:mad

    The switch felt like it clicked home and I don't think that was fitted incorrectly and I don't really want to take it back out. There is power going to the switch.

    The only thing that we did when changing pads and checking glow plugs was to disconnect a relay on top of fuse board (458) in engine bay, this stopped the relay light flashing but ESP light came. We then plugged it back in.

    We ordered a new on of these from vw to arrive tomorrow along with glow plug control unit.

    Any help greatly appreciated,

    Brian (newbie)

    the flashing glowplug light may be indicating a stored fault code.
    try disconnecting the car battery for 10 mins. or have a fault scan.

    hi kite
    issue now resolved, changed the brake pedal/switch, part no;S1k2945511rdw, bit tricky to locate and turn untill it clicks! happy days. still can't work-out why they would link that to the g/p light, but anyway done, so thanks again for your time. d.
