Not impressed, with all the problems etc. Well, the boots not opening now. It was a bit temperamental but now its not opening at all. It will open, however, if I manually unlock it but when both of your hands are full of shopping etc, it just ain't practical!!

    Its a 2002 A4 by the way.

Any help would be much appreciated chaps!

Sounds like the electronic release switch has had it, suggest a Vag-Com check up to see if anything else could cause it, otherwise you'll be needing the boot release button replacing.

Well, It’s been a while, but, I diagnosed the problem. After putting the old AVO across the boot switches and connectors, I found that the power supply cable for the boot release mechanism that ran down that flexible rubber tubing between the boot lid and the boot had actually flexed so much it had snapped!

My dad and I patched a new bit of cable with more strands so it was more flexible and jobs a gudden, works every time! Save me god knows how much!

    HI Des

Ive got the same problem with my avant. Can you describe more fully how/where you found the broken wire. You never know it might be the same problem for me too

    Cheers

Its in the rubber tube that channels the wires between the boot lid and the body. Ther should be a yellow cable with a brown stripe on it i think. Stick a pin in it with a meter to see if ur getting any current down it. Also, lock and unlock the car to see if you get any power surges to indicate its live or not.

I have the same problem however my electronic release switch makes a noise like it want's to open but I have to use the Key all the time. I was thinking mybe it's the actuator that's not playing ball. If anyone has had or has the same problem please can you let me know as it's doing my head in and I don't want to go to the ******** or *********.

    Cheers,

    Lee

I have a similar problwm to this. I have just been forced to replace the boot catch due to the old one breaking. However I have now fitted the new one which was purchased through Audi, but for some reason neither the handle of Key fob now works. The only way to open the boot now is with the key, not ideal when it is raining and you have to get in the boot.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is, ideally I would prefer to try and fix myself rather than have to take it in to Audi and have to take out a loan to pay the bill
