Ok, which should I go for:

VOLKSWAGEN GOLF DIESEL HATCHBACK 2.0 TDi 140 GT 5dr

Multifunction steering wheel with bluetooth telephone preperation
    Storage pack - Golf
Air conditioning - 2 zone electronic climate control
    Luxury pack - Golf S/GT
    Rear view camera
RCD 510 touch screen radio/dash mounted 6 cd/mp3 auto-changer 8 speakers MDI and aux-in socket in front centre console with dynaudio pack
    Winter pack - Golf
Colour: Metallic - Steel grey, £430
    Trim: Alcantara/cloth upholstery - Titan black, £0

    Total: ~ £21,500

    OR

AUDI A3 SPORTBACK SPECIAL EDITIONS 2.0 TDI Black Edition 5dr [Start Stop]

    Heated front seats
    Storage pack - A3
    Comfort pack - A3
Symphony radio + 6 CD autochanger with MP3 compatibility + aux in
    Through load system
USB console located in glovebox - controllable with radio + multi-function steering wheel
Colour: Metallic - Ice silver, £500

Audi has start stop, lower band C tax bracket, xenons but looks a little dated and is replaced early 2011. Golf has rear reversing camera and looks more up to date. I just can't decide

    Any ideas?

The Golf if it's got to be a 5 door - the A3 looks far better as a 3 door, it's always looked almost as if the 5 door option was an afterthought in all variants of the A3....

The Golf has a higher kit level than the Audi for less money - As a company car choice, the Golf would be cheaper - as a private car, the Golf has more kit to live with. The Audi, well, it's just more expensive. It's an easy choice.

Now, if the Octavia VRS was an option, that would make it harder

    Hi,

just to check - that pic of the Golf is not the actual one you are considering is it?
I only ask as it does not match the written description - so presume just an example? [Does not have the RCD510, the 2 -zone or the winter pack].

    Cheers, Dunc.

BTW - that's a good price for a GT. I have one; and am very pleased with it. My mate has an A3 with same engine - and I genuinely wouldn't swap personally.

IGNORE THIS - just noted you didn;t post the pics!

As you've posted in a Golf sub-forum the answer is predictable...

But even allowing for any bias, still the Golf. Mostly because the Audi gets replaced pretty soon.

Your price for the Golf is about a 11.5% discount so i'd be surpried that you can't get the Audi down by the same percentage or more. Without knowing the RRP of the Audi i guess you currently have similar discount?

The spec between the 2 is odd - you've no phone connection on the Audi, wheras you're paying extra on the Golf for it ?

Whilst the Audi might be getting on a bit, i prefer the looks of it over the Golf - i personally don't think the Golf looks the money, whilst the Audi does. Personal opinion.

Bet you didn't expect too many votes for the Audi on this forum !!
