I would like to fit remote central locking to my 1999 TDi. I have found some really nice kits on rclick but some are just fobs and some are fobs with blank keys. I only have one key for my car so was thinking about getting the one with the blank key.

Does anyone know where and how much a key will cost to have cut?

    I understand the problem,

As i gather from your post, your looking to have Remote central locking on your car...Presumably VW will fit this to your car and they will cut the key + program it to the immobiliser in the car but i imagine it will cost you an arm and a leg to do. I would also imagine that inorder for this to happen you will need a NEW central locking unit, which has the ability for R/C/L.

So the Key Fob itself will look like this,

To get remote central locking your best bet is to look at after market alarms...and to find an auto electrician which is reputable to fit the product. But depending how much you want R/C/L as i imagine this to be rather costly.
