I think it's 7! as in factorial of 7 actually.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the car. Tell all if you need a hand as there's loads of help to be had here. Not from me, I'm very rarely any help. Welcome.

Too true they ain't like they used to be...this AHU motor was stripped and cleaned..turbo too..only has 85k miles on it. It is plain that things have deteriorated since my last VW diesel purchase which was a 1,6TD SB Passat 1990. Currently has 320k and going well.

This Vento will need some invasive surgery..the thing is dangerous..will keep you posted.

Hi..thanks for the nice welcomes. I recovered this AHI motor and I'll teel you how:

PLEASE NOTE. I CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR MOTOR. This post is meant to help folks who are desperate for practical advice.

    1. You need an OBD interface and a code reader, you can get em off eBay. VAG-COM is this best in my opinion.

    2. Go to 3D racing site on the net and look at the turbo boost adjuster.
Order one then follow the instructions and fit it.

    3. Block off the engine block crankcase breather with the part from the SD 1,6 TD motor of around 1990. Block off the hole in the plastic cap that sits on the rocker cover from the aforementioned..silicone is best for this...let it set for at least 2 days.

    4. Get a tuning box and insert in the cable bunch that leaves the injector pump...see eBay.

    5. Make sure the diesel feed hose is not kinked..mine was...replace with a high temp rubber hose if it is.

    6. The EGR valve: your decision what you do with this but I blocked mine off. Reason it is clear that this motor was designed by perfectionists for a California emission regime. My world is different. If you do block it off you will need access to a machine shop.

    7. Injectors: I fitted bigger ones...when I say I..I do not mean me. I got a top class injection specialist to cahnge the nozzles. Get this wrong and you are is serious trouble.

    8. Wheels 205/55x15 works well.

    9. Make sure the drive train components are in first class condition.

    10. Make an attempt to pass an advanced driving course like RoSPA provides.

    Best Regards
    Roly

  4. Cool Ahu 1,9tdi Temp Gauge Characteristics

SORRY FOLKS YOUR TEMPERATURE GUAGES ARE PLACEBOS

The temperature guage does not record any temperature above 90C.
This is NOT a fault on my Vento 1998 1,9TDI AHU motor

None of them do..they are made NOT TO! lol We are not meant to worry about motors temps..good buisiness for the "********hips" if we bust the motor

This is NOT GOOD if you have modded your motor..you need accurate feedback. Modded motors can get like HOT

    What to do???

On top of the oil fiter bracket is a plugged off 10x1.0 threaded hole to take part number1H0 919 563..... atemp sender.

Get an oil temp guage with a sender.

The Standard temp guage is made for folks who are neurotic..only reason I can give as to why it tells lies.
