Lack of Performance!! BAD MPG!! 2.0 tdi 170bhp

Hi everyone, i'm a new Audi owner and a new member!!
I've bought 56 reg 2.0 tdi A3 170bhp Quattro with 86k on the clock(full main dealer service history). I've been told that 170 should go really well but i'm struggling to get over 100 mph. It just wouldn't go. I also get very bad mpg(25-30)..When i leave it to tick over it's lumpy. I took it to main dealer but theres no fault code on the car. I've tried few things but no luck..

*Changed the diesel filter.
*Changed one of the sensors on the turbo. (no difference)

Please Help!!!

Struggling to get over 100 mph !!!!!!!!!! Which aerodrome are you using ?

Did the dealer you took it to give you any more clues? Surely you didnt just pay them money to fix it and then walk away?!

I'd get someone with VCDS to run a scan and some logs with the engine running, Could be turbo/MAF related? Or one of many other things!

Let me get this right; i knew car was slow from day one but by the time i managed to book it with Audi, engine management light came on then engine cut out so i took it to Bexley Audi as a non runner. Injector 1 failed so they replaced it(£945) then i went for a drive with a mechanic it was still same. I thought injector was the problem but it was different issue. Anyway car is running now but still no performance and drinks the diesel like mad and very lumpy. I'm getting the injectors cleaned now because there's no fault code on the car. I beleive its something mechanical. I also replaced the Air flow meter but no luck.
I've seen quite few Posts with similar problems.
Has anyone managed to fix it yet?? I'm very upset about the car

Hopefully after tuesday i'll let you know how it goes. If not next is EGR valve then check if there's an update for the ECU..

Hope this doesn't depress you but I had a similar problem with the A3 I bought last Sept., 56 reg 1.9tdi with 55k on the clock. After 1000 miles it suddenly started misfiring very badly and would hardly run. Turned out to be a wiring electrical short to one injector which had damaged the injector and "fried" the ecu. Injector + wiring harness + ecu replaced under Audi warranty. Can't fault the Audi dealer, they supplied a courtesy car for the 2 weeks it took to effect the repairs.

I've already replaced one of the injector. Yesterday i put new air filter and it made big difference. Hopefully after injectors get cleaned car will run normal again. I can't wait to get it right so i can start with mods..

Problem Solved !!! Sonic Bathed the Injectors new air filter new diesel filter.. Car pulls like a train.. No lumpy idle and its not juicy anymore... thanks guys for showing interest on my post.. Its time for re-map!!!

Hi A3Q.

Glad to see you have managed to get your problem solved. I had a 57 plate A3 170Q Sline LE. Had it for 2 years, about 35,000 miles. The car always pulled like train and generally averaged between 40-45mpg. I did mostly long journeys >50miles. However I was aware when I purchased it that there were issues with the 170 if you do short journeys. Might be a reason why it went like a bag of spanners. I was also advised to keep away from supermarket fuel.

Have you got used to the quirky gearing in 1-3??
