Paint Colour Code

Hi Guys

I have a 2003 Golf GT TDi and have scuffed the bumper against a low wall

I need some touch up paint, so how do i find the colour code. I'm sure its on a label somewhere on the car??

Anybody help?

Hi Steve,

The paint code (colour code), is printed on a sticker normally found in;

• Spare tyre well
• Inside front page of the VW Service schedule book

The paint code begins with an L, folllowed by 3 alphanumeric characters

e.g. LY3D

This sticker also details;

• Chassis number
• Sales code
• Engine code
• Gearbox code
• [Optionally: Engine power in KW].

A friendly VW dealer should also be able to retrieve/quote your paint code based on your registration/chassis number.
Whilst at a dealer, dealer sourced genuine VW touch up sticks (Lackstift) are available at under £10.

Finally, this thread may be relevant (however it deals with a scratch rather than a scuff);
