    I've just bought a s-line steering wheel from a 2004 1.8t ,im going to put on my 2002 tdi sport.What i want to know is it easy to change them and how do you do it.

    It's not necessary to remove the battery ground, but I recommend you do it anyway and wait a few minutes to minimize the risk of the airbag going off accidentally.

    1.) make sure your ignition is switched OFF and key is out of the ignition
    2.) remove the airbag. 2 Torx-screws at the back of the steering wheel, unplug the connector and place the airbag face up on the ground / table, etc.
    3.) The steering wheel is held on by an XZN 12 screw. Mark the position with a pen if it hasn't been marked already and remove the screw. Pull out the steering wheel
    4.) Reverse for installation of the new wheel

    I've read in a few different posts/websites that if you are removing the airbag then you should disconnect the battery negative while you have the ignition turned on! I've done it this way a good many times now without incident. Anyone any comments?

    I never bother, can't see the point. It's always been fine with the battery connected.
