    more dumb questions from me!

    1) have you checked the fuse(s) for the roof to see if the have blown?
    2) with the ignition on, but the car not running, can you hear any motor 'whirring' with the roof button pressed? (this will make sure the wiring between the motor and the switch is intact)
    3) can you move the roof at all manually with someone else holding the button down? (the roof could be caught of the motor could have burnt out)

If you have tried all of these, i'll mind my own business! just post again, and we'll look at the next set of options

If the motor is whirring and running, then i don't think that your issue lies there, unless it is free-spinning. whatever it is, it is lying further down the chain of switch--->motor--->hood. have you tried moving the roof manually?and is there any joy there? or assisted with the motor (as in someone holding the switch down and you pulling the roof up?)

Dont mean to hijack this thread, but what fluid goes in the pump reservoir, as min is on min.

    is it just hydrolic fluid?

hi...bear with me please....posting a question on behalf of a friend of mine....i know this will probably sound a bit dumb...but...where the heck is the fuse for the roof located?....had a look at the fuse box near the steering wheel but found nothing relating to the roof....got told it was maybe near the wipers under the hood?...but can't see anything obvious...please....anyone knows...could you share...with maybe a description of what it might actually look like! lol (apart from a fuse! lol)

    many thanks in advance

Guys, please don't hijack the thread - start new ones and always search before asking (choppermark - yes it's hydraulic and VAG dealers will sell you some) as your question may well have been asked before!

benson1, can you move the hood manually? To do this, turn the t-shaped key on the pump body counter clockwise. This releases a valve that allows the hood to operate without the motor. The hood should be (manually) moveable now.

Question 2. Is there any fluid leakage under the rear seat? This is where the rams are (well, they are above on either side of the vehicle, but leaking fluid tends to pool under the seat).
