Ordered my Golf - What happens next?

Hi

I have just ordered my Golf with a dealer a couple of days ago... trying not to get too excited as I think it will be a long wait. What happens next? what info should I be getting from the dealer - are there any order codes? When should I find out my build date etc???

For those that are interested my golf should be the following:

Golf GT 5 Door GT 2.0 TDi Manual
Graphite Blue
Black Interior
Multifunction steering wheel with bluetooth telephone preperation
Storage pack
Luxury pack
Rear view camera
2 zone electronic climate control
RCD 510 touch screen radio/dash mounted 6 cd/mp3 auto-changer 8 speakers and aux-in socket in front centre console
Winter pack

I need to track down some seat covers, some mud flaps, something to stop the paint on the edge of the doors chipping if someone opens it against another car or wall (they will be shot if they do!)... any ideas?

Did you ask about when you will take delivery?

12 weeks is the average from order placed on the system to collection of the vehicle

I did ask about delivery and he said it would be in May sometime.

The average is most definitely not 12 weeks!

Mine went into production this week, ordered 30/09/09. ETA is next month, meaning the total wait will have been ~6 months, that is for a 5dr GT TDI in Candy white with Vancouver alloys and the convenience pack

I ordered in August and will not see it until April. 12 weeks is not the average.....The best advise is to forget you ever ordered the car....until the day they they call you (when they will probably tell you its is delayed)

Crikey...I guess it depends which model you order mine took about 12 weeks and was ordered 30th November 2009 that was an S.

Mine took ......... about 3 and 1/2 months about 14 weeks, just 2 options, but you've got many. Yeh about May 2011 I reckon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine took 12 weeks, ordered end of June, arrived the end of September

And that was before all the horrendous supply chain problems started, so not really relevant to current orders.
