    Hi all,

I have been enquirying about alloy wheel centre caps from VW dealers on e bay. As my wheels are 10 spoke not the chunky 5 spoke alloys. I have given them my regestration.

They have advided that my car still has an outstanding recall on the fuel pump.

Any advise or help I would greatly appreciate it

Take it in a let them do it - afaik a recall holds good even when out of guarantee.

Thanks guy's that's what I was thinking. The dealer on ebay has been most helpfull and have suggested I try and get the wheel centre caps changed for free also .

I have had the car for around 4 weeks now and around 3 or 4 times the car has cut when I have tried to start it from cold. I had put it down to poor fuel and crap in the injectors. Since putting millers in this has not happened.

If memory serves me correct. The usual issues would be cranking and not firring. If the pump was about to give up.

Also how many fuel pumps does a passat have?

Reason for asking is my peugeot had two. Low pressure pump in the tank and high pressure pump under the bonnet. Which pump is the recall for?

Car is booked in at VW next Friday . And the dealer/ service department was most helpfull.

They have explained it may have been changed and not recorded. Forward thinking form VW they are ordering a pump in to replace incase its not been changed.

Also when my car is connected to there computer it will go live and any D.S.G updates will be mapped back onto the ecu. Apparently issues on the earlier models. And any recalls outstanding.

They are also ordering in wheel centre caps for me free of charge.

    One happy vw driver

Just got back from my VW dealer and i'm very pleased with the service that was offered. Pump has already been changed so it was just a visul check.

Also car has been given a health check. I have both outer and inner driveshaft gaiters split on the n/s

    Total price nearly £200.
Dont get me wrong we all need to make a living but that seems excessive to me.

I would of expected to pay around £150 from a main dealer. not a penny more.

They have a great offer on at the moment £299 for 2 years service pack. This includes a full and short service. 2 mots and 1 brake fluid change. Yes please, Mr VW dealer.

Actually that's not a bad deal; 2 MOTs are worth a good £100 for starters. My dealer took me for £180 for an inspection service (100k miles) last month. Not pleased and told them so.

Have a look at the jack cover in the boot to see if it's got a sticker(s) there saying what recalls have been done to your car. If nothing, ask your VW dealer to look it up on his pc.
