Removing Engine Cover on 2.0L gt tdi BKD

Hello people,

Just a quick question, how do I remove the engine cover from my golf gt tdi 2.0L?

There don't seem to be any fixing nuts under any cap (like what was on my previous 1.9tdi 130 pd engine).

Oh one other question is the under tray removed via fixing screws/bolts?

Any pointers would be good.

Hi Dan.

The engine cover just pulls off. I think the one on your engine lifts up at the front and then pulls forwards out of a rubber mount at the rear.
The under tray is secured by 9 (I think) T25 torx screws. Four on each side and one front and center. There are also 3 T30 (or are they T40) torx along the rear.

my engine cover was secured with a 10mm nut at the top left as you look at the engine.
i've got a 2.0l bkd too.
there are also 3 rubber grommet things holding some pegs in place too tho.

Yeah, but you don't need to remove the 10mm nut. You pull the engine cover towards you and it slips out from under the nut.

strange, not mine, it's a bolt on the engine with the cover like a washer then a nut. is urs just a U shape then?

My engine cover had a 10mm nut on the top leftish corner and 3 rubber grommets.
I removed the 10mm nut (which in turn removed the nut/bolt and rubber washer) then I just pulled the cover off (of course I removed the dipstick first).
I did find that the under tray was a bit more time consuming due to rwo of the screws would not come out of the speed clips.

The only other issue I had was that I found the vacume pipe going to the black ball thing had broken ( the spigot that the pipe fushed over had snapped off). I belive this must have happeded when the alternator was replaced about 10K ago. I guess with me checking out all of the vacume type hoses was the last straw.

I have placed anothe question asking what is the black ball **** type thing situated above the alternator?

Any Ideas chaps?

It's a bolt on the engine with a rubber bush then a washer and a nut. There is a slot on the rubber bush that the U shaped bit of the plastic engine cover slots into.
