Cars which came into the UK after March 07 have a revised version of roof seals fitted and they don't leak and as for an A4 cabriolet? The Eos is a far better car to drive and equals or betters the Audi in other areas.

It's more down to quality control than a bad design with the Eos(known fault in earlier cars)dealers should maybe pay a bit more attention to detail during the pdi? My wifes Eos is now 3 months old and doesn't leak at all we had an A4 s-line cabriolet before this and its an over rated over priced car with dealers who are so far up their own arses they forget who's the customer....The Eos is a very good car and I wouldn't let your bad experience cloud your judgement in having another one. It's a lot more value for your cash than the A4 cab.

I'm sure the dealer wouldn't sell you another unless they were 100% sure it didnt leak.

We have now decided to have another Eos,according to Trading Standards if we do this we are starting from scratch so any problems with the new car is not a carry over from the last one, only drawback so far is having to wait 14 weeks to get one.

Looking on the bright side though we will have had a car for almost 12 months at little cost, how much would the book value drop in that period.

One thing puzzling me, if you take a look on Ebay there are VW dealers selling Eos probably ex demo and asking more money than new list.

I think I will have to stand the cost of swapping the plates, but even then it will have been cheap motoring.

the salesman who sold me the car wife had a baby she didn't like the hours he was working and he quit the job,so now the general manager is looking after the case.

First week in July I rang the dealer to see what progress with the replacement car, his reply "about 8 weeks before it arrives" so we came to agreement that 6 weeks before he would put my plates on retention and obtain another number for the old car.

End of July still no word so I rang again, general manager is on holiday be back 8th August we'll get him to ring you then.

10th of August still no contact so I rung again, the general manager has now left and moved to another garage in the group, so I ask to speak to the new GM, he's away on a training course but somebody will ring you tomorrow.

12th of August Head salesman rings me, "I've taken over your case, sorry I didn't ring yesterday spent all day getting up to speed on your problems, but good news your car is now built just waiting for it be shipped over to the UK,we will have to register it normally and swap your plates later".

17th August another call, your car is ready can we do a swap on monday/tuesday, whereupon I say "no I may as well wait till the 1st Sep and have a 57 Plate" then he tells me the car as been there a week already but nobody told him. Later in the day he rings again asking for insurance details quoting me an 07 number, I remind him we are supposed to be having a 57 number. Towards 6 o'clock he rings again "you were lucky there ,fortunately the paperwork was not sent out to DVLA,so now you can have a 57 number".

Where it not for the fact that this is my wife's car I could gladly have told him to stick up one of his bodily orifices.(but she would never have forgiven me if I had).

Just out of interest, did you stand the cost of swapping your no plates?

We rejected our Eos last month, and are taking a delivery of a new passat on 1st Sept. Our local dealer has sorted out and paid for everything involved in the change over including the number plate. According to them, they claim back any losses from VW so don't let them away with anything.

Also, our Eos is sitting on the forecourt (nearly 6 months old) at almost £1000 more than we paid for it (probably still with a leaky roof)!

The problem with forums Rick as you well know is that you always get to hear about the complaints on a car and less of the praise. My eos made in May 07 has no problem with leaks at all, as are the majority of owners. 4,000 sold in the last 12 months in the UK alone. What percentage have complained of leaks I wonder. If there are leaks in the earlier models, they should be sorted by krytox if not then there is something more serious which should be covered by warranty. Based on my exeperience and from what I've heard from others its the VW dealers that seem incompetent rather than the car itself.

There has been no mention of any costs to be paid at all,but the way the dealer is performing at the moment I'm not surprised, I'll get the car here first and argue that point later if need be.

It's not just the leaks with ours, fact is they can't make the boot lid sit down evenly, the expert who came from VW did make it look better for a while, but gradually it has gone back to like it was originally.

Replacement car is now in sight.

Tuesday morning I ring the Dealer for a registration No and arrange for the car to be delivered Friday, one of the guys only lives 2 miles away so he will bring it on his way home from work, Then ring the insurance co and arrange a cover note to be sent to the dealer direct.

Friday lunchtime ring again to check everything going according to plan, he tells me they have not got the insurance note yet, ring the insurance co "it was posted tues eve first class", ring the dealer back "I'm certain it's not here, but if you ring VW insurance and ask for quote they will email us a cover note so we can get a licence".

Friday 7pm guy turns up with car and guess what with a cover note from my ins co, been buried under a mountain of paperwork on his desk.

Now here's hoping all goes well.

So, tell us about your new Eos, what spec is it, what 'toys' has it got.

    Any chance of a photo.

Paprika red 2.0 TDI ,bog standard as it comes.
Identical to the last one, It is actually my wife's car so she picked what she wanted and I kept out of it, until it came to sorting the hassles with it.
I will take some pics when it stops raining
