Xcarlink Ipod connection for Audi A6

I have a 2007 Audi A6 with the MMI basic system. I had the xcarlink ipod connector fitted but the MMI basic is not picking it up the xcarlink. The CD changer works fine but I was told the ipod would appear as an additional CD. This has not happened. They guy with fitted the xcarlink is certain he did everything correctly. Any ideas what could be wrong?

The MMI basic system only supports one CD changer on the ring at one time, only MMI high (full colour) systems will allow both the CD changer and the iPod kit to operate at the same time.

Do you have the 2nd or 3rd Generation MMI System

If its the 2nd generation In Car iPod supplys a Intergarted kit specially for the 2nd Generation MMI System

Thanks. It was sold to me as a product that works with the MMI basic system. I double checked the details with them before buying it. I am exchanging emails with them at the moment. I dont mind not having use of the CD changer if the Ipod works as I have everything I need on that.
