noise when steering

My audi s3 makes a donking noise when steering any suggestion to what it is thanx

Hi, have you looked at your upper strut mounts/bearings? is it when your at a stand still or moving?

As above and also check lower wishbone bushes

I recently had this problem with my A3 it was making a noise when steering both while moving and at idle it was simply low power steering fluid however the fluid kept dropping slowly, I ended up having to replace the steering rack

Was that an expensive job?

I managed to get a second hand steering rack for 250 but the labour still cost another 200 at an independent garage so the total cost was 450

Mate i had a similar problem i had whining, moaning and groaning coming from the steering evertime i touched, was getting for a expensive repiard until my mate suggested i check the power steering fluid, topped it up and its like new, hope this is all that is with ur car

well ive checked that seems ok its more of a knock like the spring twisting and all of a sudden it knocks but thanks for ur imput.
