I am having issues tuning in radio stations on my 2001 (225) Audi S3 Chorus system.

I had the aerial replaced with a brand new one that was still in it's packaging when i bought the car. Since it was fitted, I can only get BBC radio 2 and no other stations on FM or AM - sometimes not even that one station. Audi have confirmed it is the correct aerial so it complicates the problem. Not sure why it will pick up only one station and no others, it was fine with the old aerial but the base was corroded so it needed changing.

Does anyone know why it will only pick up one station and if the problem is more likely to be with the radio or aerial?

The garage have suggested that it could be the radio rather than the aerial because it picks up at least one station and if the aerial was faulty it simply wouldn't ever pick up any stations. I'm not totally convinced by that theory as they replaced it, but then again it does kind of make sense at the same time.

I don't have the radio keys yet so can't test with a different radio unit until I get them later in the week.
Will my old unit work (Standard 2000 Audi A3 concert radio) with the connectors in the S3? I have a sub woofer and bose speakers in the S3 too.

If any body has had a similar issue please post.
    Any help appreciated!

Cheers Stuart, now I now the base can be faulty so that is a possibility.
I went to audi today so they could pull the radio out for me, the new one only picks up one station too but strangely enough, a different station!

Audi told me that although this is the correct part (part number replaced the old one) there is another aerial that will fit so I've ordered that and gonna take it to the garage who did the repair.

Am I being unreasonable if I tell the garage that I want it doing for free? After all, they should have tested it before putting all the bits back in right?
On the other hand, I supplied the part that was fitted and if it does turn out to be faulty, I'd need them to fit the new one?
    Opinions please

I think as you supplied the part you might not get any freebies, because they did what you instructed them to do. On another point it might be worth letting Audi do the job as they will be geared up to get it right at one cost

I'd be interested to see how you get on with this as my A3 has crap reception as well. Didn't realise there was an amp/booster under the aerial.
