    Hi

I'm new to all this so please bear with me. I have read various threads on faulty alarm systems on the A4. I have a 1998 A4 tdi saloon and the alarm has started going off at random intervals. I have checked the o/s of the boot and only found the central locking pump, the alarm horn/siren is on the n/s on its own. I cant see any battery back that has been mentioned unless the battery is actually in the horn itself ? I have also turned the internal sensors off but it still goes off.
Can anyone help with this problem before I take to the car with a big stick
    Thanks

    Woz

VAGCOM will tell you what the alarm source is.
Or take it to the dealer and have him check it for 1/2 hours labour.

I have the same problem on my 2000 A4 saloon, any idea where this battery pack is.Is it possible that it is in the siren itself?

kallie a4 .don't know if you found out but the alarm battrey is located in the siren in the off side of the boot.it's a plug in module, approx £80 from an audi dealer.remove trim from across boot and remove off side panel.the unit is then located in a well below the rear lights.best of luck

Hello all! i'm a newbie i'm afraid but have a little expreience in the trade for all the good it's done me! (audi "trade rates" are non-existent!!!) We seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet here! our "w" plate a4 is serenading us at all times during the night and also occasionally when we drive it! the persistent "casio watch" beeping eminating from the boot is becoming annoying now! i was told that on the vw's there is a switch that kills the boot alarm by a mechanic but i can't find one on the audi anywhere!Sorely tempted to just buy the siren/battery combo and plug it in myself but am loath to pay out if it doesn't work! typically, i refuse to take it to main dealer to be diagnosed as am sure you chaps can help me out!if it is the problem, does anyone have the part number of the unit to hand? (i'm sure they are all the same as another thread says main dealers seem to carry stock as it's such a common problem!!!)Is this likely to be anything else other than the battery in the siren in the boot or could it well be something else altogether?many thanks for reading, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say it's going to work!!!!!Pred!

hi pred, the alarm is on the off side in the boot, remove horizontal plastic trim which goes across boot.then remove offside trim panel, the alarm is down the bottom in the well of the car.simple plug in job. unit is around £80 from main dealer. you may have to modify bracket.maybe helpful to remove spare wheel before removing trims.my a4 (w) had same problem and i sorted it.any problems, get back to me ,i'll watch this space. i'm not an audi mechanic though. mary
