Well 850 miles since Dec 15th and so far all is well. No rattles or problems, lets hope it continues like that,
I am now mister calm instead of mister angry, cruise control at 75, that keeps the satnav at 70 so that camera warning doesn't keep bonging.

I pretty much feel the same about my GT TSI as you do. I'm not bothered about the tinted glass as I have reversing sensors, and I have the 2Zone climate control.

I have noticed how dirty the rear of the car is getting. I only washed it a week ago, and it's absolutely filthy!

I had flaps on the mk3 I scrapped and they made bugger all difference to keeping the rear end clean.

I have to sluice the rear of the car down several times a week. This is really the bugbear of all hatchbacks and as this is my last VW product I will perhaps try a car next time, if there is a next time, that in not a hatchback in that true sense.
Even my 1998 (new then) Rover 414i had a hatchback style but had a more pronounced boot profile and therefore did not attract all that road rubbish, which is seriously quite a drawback with these true hatchbacks, such as the Golf, especialy for you blokes who do high daily mileages on motorways etc.
It would get me down, quite frankly, constantly trying to keep the rear of the Golf dirt free.

The obvious solution would be to get a VW Jetta or a Skoda Octavia.

Can't help thinking that mudflaps make dirt accumulation on rear end worse. My empirical observations in car parks are that golfs without mudflaps have less dirt than those with - but what do you think?

The storage space in the arm rest is very poor you can't even store your CD's. Anyway I've had the car a month and I still haven't inserted a CD to see if it works yet, bring back the old cassette.

The dirt on the rear is quite bad as I'm always using the rear wash/wipe. I have the mud flaps but I haven't driven it without them so I can't say its worse with mud flaps. The main reason I had the mud flaps is to stop stone chips down the sills.

Alright Keith, fancy putting up some pics? I'd like to see the mudflaps fitted.
