Just a quick question - I had my Golf 1.9Tdi serviced at my local VW specialist today because the IN01 was coming on when I started the car.

Am I right to assume this should be just an oil and filter change and an inspection?

The car went in for IN02 and cam belt in December 2008 (6000 miles ago).

Only on both occassions the garage has replaced the Air, Fuel and Pollen Filter. The bill this time says 'full service'?

Before I phone and make a fool of myself (I have been impressed with the previous work I've had done there, and I like to support local business and all that) have they replaced these items prematurely?

My wife collected the car and didn't know to check the bill, they have never given us reason not to trust them in the past.

    Thanks

the car should have a service every year or 10000 miles
the fuel /air and pollen filters on this car should be changed every 2yrs or 20000 mls
and if they done a full service what about the spark plugs?

I wouldn't use a garage that charged me for the spark plugs on a 1.9 Tdi.

IN01 is a yearly inspection not including things like brake fluid, oil and filter only is the OEL indication. What is done varies according to the time and mileage, it isn’t fixed so the VW recommendations should be followed and a rough guide to these is in the service record. It is a very good point about the plugs though…

Hi, Spoke to the garage (who I use a lot), they realised they had carried out the wrong service, and reimbursed me for a bit of the labour and all the parts I didn't need - I didn't have to argue either, which was nice!

    Thanks for all your replies.
