    Hi

I am trying to figure out why im only getting 27 MPG out of my golf.

Its a 1.4 spi, abd engine, been serviced from new.

so what im asking is, is that what I should be getting mpg wise
if not what could I do to improve it? I have plugged it in and had no
    fault codes at all.

Its just a biy puzzling, as its only a 1.4.

Any help would be greatly apriciated.

If you have no fault codes it cannot be running that rich so I would immediately suspect your calculations as a mixture excessively rich would produce a lambda code error. How are you determining the MPG?

I hope Wales give the Froggies a good seeing to!

Fill it right to the brim and I mean right to the top. Use the little valve just inside the left of the neck to trick the tank into letting you fill it right up and totally brim it, if you can’t work that out, re-fit the cap after it clicks off and then remove it again and this will vent the tank. I can get £10 in after my car trips out the full tank on most pumps. Then zero the trip and use a full tank in varied tyres of driving, don’t thrash her **** off, just drive normally. Then fill it up again till you can’t get a drop more in. You will ten have the litres so convert this to gallons and you know your miles so it is simple to work out your average MPG.

mixed driving in my ABD'd 1.4 used to be around 25-28mpg until i gave up trying to keep up with everything else..... once i realised it was a little engine in a comparatively heavy har, it shot up to an average of 34mpg

i no longer accelerate to keep up with other cars, and stick to 65 on the motorway

now however, it gets 0mpg... as I have not driven it for nearly a month due to persistant unreliability.... still

Thanks both has answered me questions.

Mine wouldnt start yesterday morning, so checked the battery, and only had 12.3 v in her, so asked a mate to jump start off his bat, and still wouldnt start
even though the battery on mine was up over 13v with his connected

so i managed to bump her and she started first time.

One thing I noticed when trying to start her was that upon return of the key
back to just ignition position, there was like a counter reset sound, and my
    clock and stereo both reset

Will do some nosing around today see if I can see whats up ( Fingers crossed)
