    Hi,

Having never owned an Audi of any kind I don't have any experience of their reliability etc, but obviously I would expect good things.

I'm looking to buy an A8 and started off at Audi dealers looking for an approved car, but being honest I was stretching my budget too far and I am now scouting round 'other' dealers offering these cars. A considerable saving can be made when the car is not an 'approved' one.

I've come across a very nice SE LWB with the 4.2 diesel and plenty of extras. 2005 and 70,000 miles. Full Audi service history. Really immaculate condition. 1 owner and was mainly chauffer driven (apparently)

I'd be looking at wanting 3 to 4 years service from a car. I do roughly 15,000 - 20,000 miles a year .......... at almost 5 years old and 70,000 miles - would I possibly be buying into problems? Or should I expect absolute quality and therefore potential reliability?

I guess what I am asking is ..... what miles have you guys done? What goes wrong? What can I expect?

    Cheers guys

    Pete

    Hi Pete
Shop around + bide your time if you can, there are quite a few A8s out there with low miles -mine was 5 years old with a genuine 36000 miles + full service history on the clock (verified via a vag-com scan)when i bought it. I've had 10000 relatively troublefree miles so far with the only faults being bad connections to 2 control modules (unplug, spray contact cleaner, plug in - fixed)

When I was buying, an A8 with Sat-nav, ami + bluetooth was a good £2500 more expensive than a lesser specced vehicle - I bought one without sat-nav + got Craigyb to retrofit sat-nav, ami + bluetooth, saving at least £1000 in the process.

A good place to start is Oscar Goldman in Watford, he usually has a good selection to choose from and most of them seem to be well cared for with full service historys (essential).

Good luck, buy a good one + you won't regret it
