well got the new company car yesterday, and have to say very surprised, company policy is baseline cars, and if you see the spec below of my last passat, wasn't looking forward to getting it, but I'm thankful to have got reemployed quickly and a car is totally insignificant when coming to pay the mortgage etc....
but blimey the thing drives a treat, quiet, plenty on the motorway to get a shove on, and dare I say it i find the seats more comfortable than the sport! Can also turn autohold on off on the comp! drove out of Liverpool city centre back home at rush hour to Worcs av 53mpg, great.
Very impressed on first drive, not got teh toys but hey, got a job!

Yes you certainly did have some toys, glad you got yourself sorted out quickly but I'm surprised you think the seats are more comfortable, I've never tried the sports seats but I can't stand the standard seats in my highline

I've just gone from doing 146k in my old Sport B6 which had the most comfortable car seats I've ever had to a Highline Plus which has the least supportive seats ever - not looking forward to the next 100k at all. I've heard other people are not happy with Highline seats either. The only good thing about them is they are heated.

Good luck with the new job ledburyloafer.

Thy're not the same seat, the R's have what was the old S's seats in, and the Highline follows the pattern of the SE.

What puts you off the seats btw?

Interesting thread, this. When I bought my Sport in 2006 the sports seats were one of the key deciding factors. I did not like the so-called comfort seats in the then SE with their extra bulges. I preferred the S seats (and wheels) to the SE and considered buying an S with lots of options. For me the sports seats have proved ideal and were one of the reasons I migrated to the CC rather than buy another saloon.

Couldn't agree more with gamichea here. Unfortunately when I test drove a CC I found that even with the drivers seat in its lowest position my eye line was just about level with the top of the windscreen. I'm 6' 4" and found it restricted my visibility greatly, even the rear view mirror blocking my view in that direction as that's obviously lower too. Apart from that the CC would have been a great car for me. I could drive 200 miles plus in the sports seats, and get out of the car feeling like I'd just driven down the road, such was the comfort. Even a 25 mile drive in the Highline seats feel tiring, as you sit on them, not in them. I don't know how VW can describe them as 'comfort' seats, at least not to me.

That description hits the nail right on the head IMO.

I was so not look forward to driving this new car, the seats being one of teh main reasons, but I have to speak as I find and, honestly they are as comfortable, not as supportive, as the sports seat, as stated you sit on them not in them, but for me they are more comfortable,......hate to admit it as well!
