I wasn’t trying to shoot you down, just offering a balanced perspective, perhaps the lack of response on this (the MOST popular UK VAG forum by far) should serve as an accurate piece of market research for you. As someone who spends six days a week staring up at the bottom of Golf 4’s I can hole [sic] heartedly say that where standard ride height non V5 or V6 4 Motion Golf 4’s are concerned, sump damage is not the problem it is purported to be, yes it happens but it is by no means a major issue on unmodified cars. I drive an Octavia VRS which is the same platform and in three years I have never even scuffed the lower cover never mind hit the sump and that is with the car having visited the highlands and islands of this fair isle in the hands of Mrs Crasher and her family, fully loaded.

That’s a little harsh Winno. If he was making a sensible business out of the project he would have to make a gross margin of 50% to make the project work. As I said I wasn’t trying to put him down, just looking at the solution from a simpler angle but there is no need to be offensive towards him.

no one makes a sump guard for the skoda fabia, same platform as the polo (6n? 02 reg). i enquired at my local vag specialist, who said if someone did make one he could sell loads. one of my customers needed one after they destroyed their sump in a really deep pothole and i ended up building one for them. bit late now, but that would have been one sold for you.

The Fabia is the Polo 9N platform, perhaps you should find a dealer and specialist who knows how to look for parts on ETKA! It is plastic but very strong plastic.

If we want to stay on this forum we don't insult one of our members.

you've just earnt yourself a holiday, come back and respect the rules and I'll allow this to continue, carry on throwing insults like that around and you can go back from whence you came.

cheers crasher. i searched high n low trying to find one for it, tried skoda and vw main dealers and they drew a blank. mind you, it was fun making it, and the animals that drive the car wont break it in a hurry as i made it out of 6mm steel plate. a bit overkill, but you should see what they do with the poor thing. they really should have a landrover . tough as old boots those fabias.
