    Having just bought a 2003 A6 2.5 tdi (very pleased with it) the only problem is that the alarm does not work led's don't light up and indicators don't flash upon arming and disarming anybody any ideas.

    theres a wee button in the drivers door jamb that disconnects the alarm (eg if you live dogs or kids in the car). R u sure its not been pressed?

    That only turns off internal sensors. The rest of the alarm system should still arm itself on locking the car.

    The alarm will NOT set if one of the doors is open, or if one of the sensors tells the computer that one of the doors is not closed. Could be the boot lid or tailgate.

    Thanks for the replies, am I correct in thinking that there are microswitches in door locks, boot locks and bonnet catch (should be fun to get too) cheers anyway.
