Door lock bouncing

Hi, My B5 1.8 Passat locks all the doors using the key fob, but when I use the door lock button from inside the car the passangers door lock just locks and opens again! Any ideas. i have started to strip the door down, but just thought I would ask on here first.

sounds like its working correctly, it stops kids locking themselves in.

Do you mean the switch in the front passenger door? If i follow the wires through they disappear through the metal plate on to the back of th actual lock mechanism. Is it worth me stripping this down. Also we have had big issues with the floor getting wet and I have cleaned the CCM unit. The courtesy light on the front passenger door doesn't work either the voltmeter says I have 12v to earth, but my earth to the light doesn't seem to be connected!

Lots of strange issues with the car! We are going to disconnect the battery, remove the passeger seat, clean CCM, door wiring harness and remove door lock to check.

my passat does the same just press the button a few times and it will stay locked

Just to update, I found the fault, stripped the passenger door down and found a dry joint on the door lock, this fixed the passenger door courtesy light as the negative connect went through this. My dad dried out the CCM unit and we sprayed some water repellent. We did have some issue putting everything back together as my dad didn’t locate the interior door pull cable properly resulting in a non opening door

I also own a 98 passat with the passenger door doesnt lock on the switch but locks fine with the remote central locking ive also found pressing the button in the car about 3 times works
