Hi guys, I’m new here so go easy on me. I bought the above car off a friend last September and it had done about 65 000 genuine miles, it had been well serviced from new and has never been thrashed and very rarely fully loaded and it has never done any towing (No Hitch). Late October having done about 69 000 miles I noticed the clutch slipping while going up a fairly steep hill carrying a couple of passengers (The usual Rev counter going up with increased engine noise with no increase in speed). I managed to get the clutch to slip under load a few times after that but I didn’t want to overdo it in case it failed completely. I then decided to order in a new clutch and dual mass flywheel and swap them over when it started to get worse. The strange thing is, I have now done 73 000 miles and the clutch doesn’t slip anymore, not even a hint of a slip. Can anyone explain what might be happening here? The only possible clues I can add is that the car is never hammered and it’s not losing any oil (I though engine seal on crank in bell housing might be the cause).
Any help will be appreciated as I’m not sure whether to have confidence in this not reoccurring?
Many thanks
Don.
