OK i need some advice please.
I did not buy the Bi-turbo A6 i looked at because i wanted something sensible for the wife. It was a difficult decision.
So i bought a 1998 2.5 TDI se with a few miles and a short MOT taking the gamble on having little to spend but knocking the price right down.
This car has had a suspension upgrade by "eibach" fitted i think by Demon Tweaks. Well i couldn't buy a straightforward car !
MOT discovered that it needs Nearside front steering rack gaiter (well it would be the front i guess!)
and the offside front antiroll bar linkage insecure. In fact the nut had come off this joint and the joint had worn so i need a whole joint replaced.
Initially did not seem a problem but then they called with a quote and in view of the complicated suspension arrangement it would cost £400.
In addition i had advisory nearside front rear suspension arm has play in ball joint.
Now i don't think this should cost £400 but i was wondering if anyone has experience of Eibach system as i intend to get their advice first.

I also had advice that the rear tyres were worn on the inside tread. MOT suggested these had been replaced from the front but another post herein suggests there could be another reason for this problem.
I have service history which shows a full four wheel alignment check was done some time ago but probably too old to be relevent now.
The car is a beauty to drive with a slight shuddering over the speed limit but i have not balanced the wheels and it needs a couple of tyres anyway so i hope it is that simple.

I love the car and bought it to keep so will do the repairs but would appreciate any comments from experienced Audi owners or anyone with an Eibach upgrade.

    Many thanks

After doing some research i now think the problem is with standard suspension parts ie. front link arms . The bolt which attaches the lower arm with the damper attached to the small U shaped link has no nut attached and has worn the lower arm bush. Looks like i need both these parts but what are they called exactly? I think it is Lower arm and the link arm. I need to just replace the bush in the middle of the lower arm - is this possible so i don't have to replace the whole arm?

You've probably sorted this by now but the small one would normally be known as a drop link or C link.

I now understand the set up better and we just put a nut on the C link bush. Of course it knocks over bad bumps so i will need to replace the suspension parts. I have seen the kits. I will need a joint breaker but apart from that it looks fairly straighforward - am i kidding myself? I an see a ball joint and two bushes on the main arm plus two bushes on the C link on each side.

The other work done was new discs and pads all round, new steering rack gaiter and an MOT all for £400 which is what i was quoted for the drop link replacement alone.

    Thanks for replying.

The main problem with all the arms on the 2.5 is getting the bolts out of the bushes. In nearly all instances there is not enough room to slide them out unless they have been changed before and the bolts are put in the other direction.
