hi, just wondered if anyone has fitted any after market parts/upgrades to their mk6, toying with the idea of replacing the airfilter with the pipercross one http://www.awesome-gti.com/, supposed to give 5-7% more engine power, not bad for £28 quid and a 2 minute job? opinions?

Depends what engine you have? 5-7% sounds like a lot for an air-filter to me.

If your engine is a turbo then I'd save the money toward a remap.

Optimistic figures to say the least, on a standard tune engine you'd be lucky to see a few bhp gain, maybe 5bhp on a GTI.
Probably worth the money if you intend remapping at a later date given the price.

There are also some stories of oil impregnated filters damaging maf sensors, few n far between but it can happen.

i would pay the extra money and purchase the K&N panel filter its a lot better made and lasts longer.and of course get it remapped at www.celtictuning.co.uk they come to your house to do it ,then you will see more power
