After 2 months of ownership the lack of in cabin storage space got to me and I decided to add the storage drawers, as per this diy thread

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=21613

it's notimmediately obvious which mountingholes to use but once the bracket is rivetted on it becomes clearer. The drawers aren't exactly commodious but give useful extra storage, and frees the air conditioned glovebox of my CDs .

Given the parts come in at £100 for both seats it's best to tick the factory option box if you have the chance!

It's good to know you can install these aftermarket... I had the storage pack on my mk5 gt, it also came with the map pockets in the back of the front seats.

But I'm also interested to know how you got that 19% discount! The discount my local dealer was offering was nothing like that for a mk6 GT and they said their buying discount was only 14.5%. Any tips and pointers are welcome!

I got the storage pack as a factory fitted option. I must admit the under seat drawers are pretty small (very shallow), I thought they'd be much bigger. On the plus side they are big enough to fit a sat nav, power lead and mount (or CDs etc.). You also get a couple of cargo nets with the factory fit option, one under the parcel shelf which I've never used (didn't even realise it was there for the first few months!), and one that fastens to the boot floor (used only once to stop a wine bottle flying around in the boot). I think overall they are worth it, although as the Golf isn't exactly festooned with storage spaces I'm surprised they aren't standard...

I wonder if you can have the drawers with the bluetooth phone option - the whole of the underside of my drivers seat is taken up with a foam box which I assume is the phone - can't see there would be much room for a drawer!

I have the S model being delivered in a couple days, from what i can gather from CS the seats are the same as the SE bar from some extra lumbar support, has anyone had these fitted as a dealer option on the S model. (not available as factory option)?

According to my last brochure the 'S' seats have a different cloth to that of the SE model. It's Merlin in the SE but not, as far as I know, in the 'S'. Structurally the seats might be the same except that lumbar support is not standard on both front seats.
I'm doing all this from memory, however.
You can check this out on the VW configurator, surely? http://www.vw.co.uk

yes was aware of the cloth difference, just wanted to make sure the underside of the seats were the same so the drawers could be fitted. That storage pack has gone up £15 from when I ordered the car to now though.

I can't say there was anything particularly special about the undrside of the seat when i fitted them to the SE - lots of unused holes and slots. I can't imagine the S will be much different. There are good photos of the underside of the Mk5 seats in the installation thread i linked to earlier - its actually on mk5 forum.

I'll happily remove one seat to photograph the underside for you , although with the drawer frame now in situ it might not help much.

Luggage net for boot floor - i got mine from the a pound shop - its more square in shape than the VW one i think, but does the job !
