    hi just a couple of questions, have been offered a 03 sport 130 tdi passat estate, for £4,600, has 128k on the clock full service history, and just had a new rad fitted, had a timing belt done at 62k so is due one now,my question is is it worth this money, or should i try for one with much lower miles.

    I have just bought an '04 with 135K miles.
    Ignore the miles, look at the condition.
    You need a cambelt NOW, £300 lever to get a lower price. Do not let the vendor do it as you have no way of knowing it was done for sure.
    Use Autotrader to check the price.

    he was looking for £5,000 with him getting the timing belt done, i would rather get it done myself then you know its done, so do you think £4,600 is still too much with the mileage that it has, it is in lovely condition, also i have a long drive home if i take it, is it safe to drive so far when a timing belt is needed. another question what has the sport tdi got that other passats dont apart from 6 speed box.

    I cannot judge the value....
    The cambelt was originally rated for 100K miles but VAG has revised that downwards.
    You would be hugely unlucky if it broke in the next few 100 miles.
