Thanks for your helps guys. Mycarsvw, let me explain my problem, you'll probably run a mile!

I purchased a MFSW and airbag from eBay Germany but I've had a problem installing it due to the airbag harness I got. I'll give you the PNs of everything that I have.

    Steering wheel PN:8E0 000 124 B
    MFSW module PN: (This is a TRW #) 61340 390 F00 - titled Lenkradmodul B6
    Airbag PN: 8E0 880 201 AC 6PS Removed from and Audi A8
    Harness - 8E0971589S

    Slipring PN 8E0 953 541 E
    Control module PN 8E0 953 549 N

(Note: I have cruise and DIS installed and working fine)

My problem is that when everything is installed, the Multifunction works fine from the airbag controls, but the car horn is constantly on.

There is a spade type connection on the airbag that I assume is for the horn (Its similiar on the non-MF airbag originally installed) but the Airbag harness I purchased does not have a wire to connect to the MF airbag. I called Audi and gave them the PNs that I have and I was told that the airbag is from an A4 B6 and the wheel/MFSW module are from an A8 B6 and that he could not tell me what harness I would need (seemingly there are several options). The steering wheel has the electrical connection for heated wheel (I connected this up but nothing happened?)

So, I'm trying to find out what harness I need to sort out the horn issue or hopefully someone can tell me how to wire in the car horn wire!

    So small request!

I think I have my problem sorted! I believe I need an additional airbag harness to the one I already have - harness PN 8Z0 971 589 E.

Can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks.

I just received the new airbag harness (PN 8Z0 971 589 E) that I ordered to complete this MFSW install and its a harness that I already have! Seemingly it carries the MF and horn signals from the airbag to the control module thats located in the bottom of the steering wheel. But when installed the horn is constantly sounding.

Now I'm really stumped. Can anyone help me out. Is it possible that the airbag I have - PN 8E0 880 201 AC is just not compatable with an A4 B6?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Aren't the new MFSW a 2 stage airbag system ? and therefore not fully, safely compatible ?

Defsix, I'm not trying to install the B7 MFSW, I'm trying to install a B6 MFSW (single stage airbag) to my A4 B6.

It would be great if someone could check the wiring, but I'm beginning to think some compoent I have is not compatable - the airbag being # 1 suspect.

Still would love to hear anyone elses opinion.

    Hi fulcrum111

Hope you are still active as this thread is somewhat old.

I am investigating doing the same (replacing non B6, 4 spoke steering wheel with a B6 four spoke MFS, not replacing with a B7 MFS)

My Vehicle:A4,B6,5/04,Avanat,1.9TDI,96Kw,Multitronic, No MFS, but with cruise control.

Firstly how did it turn out?? I’m in the same situation trying to investigate and confirm required parts list before purchase.

I noted your parts list most match up with ETKA/Vagcat but wish to confirm a few items (my comments in uppercase after each item)

    • Steering wheel PN:8E0 000 124 B (I COULD NOT LOCATE THIS PART.FROM MY REVIEW OF ETKA I THOUGHT PN SHOULD BE = 8P0880201BS)??
    • MFSW module PN: (This is a TRW #) 61340 390 F00 - titled Lenkradmodul B6 (DONT QUITE UNDERTND WHAT THIS PN IS DO YOU AHVE A AUDI PN??)
    • Airbag PN: 8E0 880 201 AC 6PS – Removed from and Audi A8 (FOR AN A4,1.9TDI,B6 BASED ON ETKA I MAKE THIS PART TO BE PN=8P0-880-201-BS-6PS. DID USING AN A8 CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS DUE TO DIFFERENT VEHICLE??)
    • Harness - 8E0971589S and PN 8Z0 971 589 E (I GET THE SAME PN FOR MY UPGRAGE)
    • Slipring PN 8E0 953 541 E (I GET THE SAME PN FOR MY UPGRAGE – I ASSUME YOU CAN NOT RESUSE THE ORIGINALLY FITTED PART?)
    • Control module PN 8E0 953 549 N (I GET THE SAME PN FOR MY UPGRAGE BUT READ IN ANOTHER FORUM THAT AS YOU/I HAVE CRUISE CONTROL THIS IS NOT REQUIRED??). I NOTE ETKA PARTS DATABE DOES NOT DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN MFS AND NON MFS FOR THE PN??)

    Regards
    DCR-BE
