    First of all, I've tried fitting a brand new hazard light switch/relay - no cure.

    PROBLEM - When the indicators or hazards are not being used, a relay in the hazard light switch goes crazy, clicking, chattering and buzzing at random.
    If I turn the indicators or hazards on, they work fine and I just get the normal click, click, click with the correct lights.

    I think it may be a <12V 'leak' to the relay due to a bad earth or other fault, but I am not sure.

    Can anyone suggest likely place to look or ways to diagnose this problem?

    Long shot, Check under the passenger side front footwell, ideally under the carpet, for any sign of water. There is a feed from the CCM to the hazards to turn them on if the airbags trigger. Regards Peter

    I have the same problem which has been a pain for the last 6 months. I my case the problem varies from day to day from a slight crackle to lots more and continuing after I have returned te indicator to the neutral position. I today took the stering wheel off and played with the wires in the indicator cruise switch but did not notice any difference. I might need a new indicator switch, but would like to be sure.

    I have had a similar thought and just ordered a new indicator/cruise stalk from Ebay - I'll let you know if it cures it...

    Dug out my multi-meter and got the following:

    From the cigarette lighter (-) I got the following reading from the bare hazard switch socket pins:

    1 = No conductor
    2 = +12.57
    3 = -0.003
    4 = +12.54
    5 = -0.003
    6 = +0.116
    7 = -0.003
    8 = +7.65
    9 = +0.013
    10 = +12.53

    So, pins 8 and maybe 6 are looking a bit suspect....

    Crash signal, airbags and central locking?

    Tried disconnecting 8 - no change!
    Tried disconnecting 6 - no change!

    What little hope I have left is pinned on the new indicator stalk solving this......

    Pin 6 pulses when you lock the car to flash the indicators. Pin 8 if from the Airbag controller and appears a bit odd. Can you connect the relay/flasher unit and measure pin 8 in situ. Regards Peter
