Update on my climate control problem. I ran vagcom last night, I got the following fault under controller 08 - Auto HVAC:
    00819 High Pressure Sensor (G65)
30-10 Open of short to Plus - Intermittent.

Can someone check the Ross Tech Wiki for me and see what it says for fault 00819 - I don't have access here in work.

If this is related to my problem with the ECON light it would make sense because sometimes the ECON is working and sometimes it isn't. Anyone know where the High Pressure Sensor (G65) is located and what its PN is?

    Cheers.

I've found PN 8A0 820 855 AA which is described as valve/high pressure switch/safety switch in the heater section. Could this be what I need?

Mine has just had the same problem,it will probly be the high pressure sensor, vag com will throw up g65 high pressure sensor short to ground or something along those lines, the sensoe was £38.00+vat from tps, it simply screws out without any loss of gas.
    Hope this helps

MattyBoy C, thats the fault I'm getting. Where is the sensor located? Is it in the engine bay somewhere? And can you tell me the PN of the sensor that you bought? Thanks.

Hi, the sensor is located in the side of the condenser just to the side of the n/s headlight, it is easier to remove the headlight then it simply screws in with a 17mm spanner, the part number is:
    8E0 959 126 C, also have a look here

I have checked the service manual with regard to servicing G65 and it indicates that this does not interfer with the refrigerant circuit.

the A/C Servicing notes are as follows:

And then the Component Overview is as follows - see that Component G65 Item 7 below has the superscript "1)" against it as highlighted above.
