What do you think about the look and feel of the gear knob on your A4.

It may be a odd question, but I noticed this gear stick on the A4/A5 is standard and is also referred to as the 'aluminium gear knob'. I'm an A3 owner and when I ordered the car, I wasn't sure what the gear knob looked like as the brochure was showing pics of a different gear knob. Similar to the Polo GTI. However it actually turned out it is the same design as the A4/A5 gear knob which is standard. On the A3 you gotta pay £100 to have this fitted as an extra!

Gear knob is fine, gear change is horrible. No idea whats going on with my car but often I cannot get it in 1st. To save me looking stupid Ill pull away slowly in second. Other gears are smooth, getting into first is like moving a stick around in a bucket of gravel. £100 extra on the A3 is a bit steep, but remember this is part of the S Line pack which is a couple of grand on the A4 Or do you mean £100 extra on a A3 SLine? Id never pay that above the S Line pack if youve already paid a fortune for the S Line pack. Crazy marketing...... still better than the £12K interior pack upgrade on the new A8. Fancy a laugh, download the A8 brochure and scan towards the end. Looks for the interior shots that look like a dog poo and then look at the price

Best to get it sorted sooner than later mate, lots of extra clutch wear starting in second

What the boys and girls at Audi forget to mention is this:

Sline comes with sports steering wheel and gear nob

Std and SE, if you spec the sports steering wheel you get the sports gear nob as well

Manual models considered here only, not sure about autos..
