Basically the driver side lock doesn't work when i turn the key. I can unlock and lock the car from the passenger side, so i assume its not a central locking problem.

If i sit inside the car and push the pin up and down the driver lock will function properly and lock the entire car. Because of this and the fact there is zero resistance when i turn they key, i'm assuming that it's more of a mechanical problem than an electrical one, perhaps the linkage between the key latch and whatever that connects to? It doesn't feel like i'm pulling on anything by rotating the key.

If that is the problem what part do i need to fix it? Or do you think i'm way off anyway?

Cheers in advance guys, don't mean to be obtuse.

Sounds like you have the same problem as I had. Basically there is a bit in the lock mechanism that breaks. You can get a repair kit off ebay for about £15 but I went to my dealer and got it for £11.50.

Only tricky bit is working out which way it all goes back together but it's quite simple really.

Take the door handle off (one screw on inner edge) and slide handle back then unhook the door release bit inside. The handle will come out and you can have a look at the mech, you should see what has broken.

Not to sure about the position of the spring, don't suppose you could explain a bit more, or link a picture or guide or something, cheers mate.

Edit: Nevermind, think i've got it. I'll put it back on the door when it stops raining, cheers for that, you're a car hero! =p

There is a three pronged bit that goes in first then the spring then the blade bit and it's all held together with the clip
