    Hope someone can help!

Just driving home and the engine management light came on and I noticed that the temperature gauge is reading minimum. Seems to drive OK. I tried too ring my garage but just missed them.

    Any ideas? Temperature sensor maybe?

Will I be OK driving it to the local garage tomorrow am? Don't want to do any damage!

    Thanks for any advice

Sounds like the temp. sensor, its cheaper to change than the thermostat so a good place to start.

sounds exactly like a coolant sensor as it sends info to the ecu aswell as the guage. so if it suddenly failed then the ecu is telling you there is something wrong using the engine management light.

Thanks. That makes sense! Will try and find somewhere local to get it sorted. Don't want to pay main dealer prices if I can avoid it!

Had my sensor changed recently after giving same symptoms on my 2.5 TDi quattro. It cost £55 all in (part, labour and VAT) at my indy. Think it was 30 mins labour.
