Just a quick question someone may be able to help with. I am fitting a new EGR valve to an Audi A3 2.0 FSI 2004 and remember reading somewhere that once the new valve is fitted they need to be coded to the vehicle. Does anyone know if this is the case ??

My advice would be speak to Audi, I have the same car as you and although my problem wasn’t the egr valve I decided to act upon some of the posts on this site which was a total waste of my time and money (£500.00) to be exact.
The only people who was able to resolve my problem was the Audi dealership, this wasn’t the route I wanted to go down but I was left with no choice.

I think it is a bit off that you are criticising the posters on this site for advice given to OTHER people when you never specifically posted a question about your car and its problems for advice to be given directly. If you had made a post about your car with specific info we may have been able to help more and you haven’t even told us what the solution was.

With all due respect I have posted my problem on this site(Please Help: 2.0 fsi starting problem¬) telling specifically what my problem was which in turn got nil response.
I have also posted my solution on birdi’s post (AUDI A3 2.0 FSI Desparate help needed ) asking the same question as I asked.
If you wish to look at my post and response I would say I do think I have right to be a bit critical don’t you?

I am afraid I agree with Crasher on this, although we always recommend members seek professional advise before following anything printed on the site...

As said, it would have helped if you had posted regarding your issue, plus when you go to a Dealer, they have the car in front of them....

We have some experts on this site, well respected experts in there field, and Crashe is one of them.... I am sure he would have given you good advise if you had asked yourself

The parts you replaced that you mentioned in your first post were done AFTER reading the posts you criticise, not before. You posted about the problem AFTER reading the posts. My point was that you could have posted BEFORE replacing the parts. Not giving us the fault code numbers leaves us blind and probably why no one replied but I have to admit I missed it and for that I apologise.

The reason I made my first post is that I enjoy this forum greatly and pay towards its upkeep and for someone to criticise this FREE resource after only 4 posts rather hurts.

Which posts did you read that misguided you?

Of course the parts were replaced after reading the post, how else would I have known what to replace without reading them. If I had have posted before replacing the part I would have got the same response as the posts I read, hence the post after replacing the parts. With regards to which post misled me, I looked at anything with a3 8p staring problem related
I take it you never read my response to birdi’s post with regards to my solution, non of the fault codes led to what the problem was so posting them wouldn’t have helped, vag diagnostic computers do not find mechanical faults, please correct me if I’m wrong!
If you do read my response to birdi’s problem I hope it is of use to you in the future when diagnosing starting problems.
