    Folks,

Quick question...does the 2.0 TDi 170 have a timing belt or chain? And if it's a belt, when does it need changed?

I thought the engine had a chain, but I've heard differently now...

    Thanks in advance!

Guys as one of the forum members said the "owners manual book" you have it is worth to read it
The 170BHP TDI engine is with BELT, the changing interval is 180 000Km forgot the years and about the mileage you can calculate it

Sorry I don't know the exact maths here, but 180'000 km is around 112'000 miles ,surely that is way too long an interval between belt changes

It's not uncommon, new(ish) ford's have 100.000 mile intervals on cambelts too. Things have moved on from days of old where you need to change the belt every 20k miles
