Hi, i've got a 1.9TDI Sport, and i think one of the heater plugs
has packed in. It starts ok,except a little puff of smoke when cold, and
a strong smell of diesel, however, over the last 4weeks the MPG has dropped from around an average 52-57,to 45-48. Could it be related? The car's done 110k.
    Thanks.

check the plastic pre heater tee piece on top of the fuel filter as these can crack

    Thanks.
when heater plugs fail the yellow heater plug symbol flashes for a while after start.

It has been cold, that alone could account for the fall in MPG
