WBAC site has 250k miles as the max limit so that 4.8k quote is a dream. You never said what engine/gearbox combo it had though, but even so, it seems expensive.

Anyone who pays 5.5k for that needs their head examining!

Well the issue has gone away unfortunately.

I met up with him for a test drive and pushed him for what he was looking for price wise. He said that someone at an Audi garage had suggested that about £5.5K would be a reasonable price. At that point I said we were wasting each other's time and asked him to take me back to work. We'd covered about 1 mile and I'd not even driven it.

He reckoned We Buy Any Car had said £4.8K so I told him to sell it to them as I would be looking in the region of £1K because of the mileage.

Oh well, the C220 stays with me for a while longer!

Just for clarification it is a 2005 2.7TDi SE Quattro with a tiptronic auto.

It has been used as an airport chauffeur car so in the region of 90% of the miles are motorway. It is exceedingly tidy inside and out with all the toys - SATNAV, parking sensors, Audi car kit, leather etc.

Anyway, it's all academic now (unless he sees the error of his thinking).

That was a cheeky price - wouldnt even consider anything over a grand at that milage - no warranty or such, He was just out to get as much for the car as he could and then walk away. Audis are good cars but big milages bring issues no matter how good the car is.

Have you enquired about the cost of a recon engine and gearbox and new suspension?

Price them up, then subtract them from say £9k and you might have a valuation for a car that will take you another 150,000 miles. Then price per mile based on you running it into the ground and you might have an idea.

I wouldn't have an issue with a 5 year old car, fitted with a recon engine and new running gear myself.

I suspect you're correct Must go and search for replacing my CD player with something a bit more up to date. That's why I came here this morning.
