I have an R reg mk3 golf 1.6 manual 5 speed . It keeps cutting out, however it happens irratically.

    What happens is....

I will be driving along normally approx 5 minutes into the journey and it will cut out. it can happen at idle or when driving. I leave it for 3 mins and it starts up again and is fine. Very occasionally it will do it twice on a journey.

As it is so irrratic i feel i need a start at what to change or investigate... any ideas

    Many thanks

    iain
