Some time ago my car started to judder on occassion whilst on the motorway...this got worse as it started to lose all power, to a point where I've had to pull over on the hard shoulder, turn the engine off and start again. The engine light then started to come on.

I took it to a non-VW garage and the computer said it needed a new nox/o2 sensor, they thought it needed 2 parts, but VW only gave me one as said it came in one.

That part turned the light off and solved the problem for about 2 days before it's now started again. Light has still not come on though.

I took it back to the garage, who got a second opinion, and they belive it's down to a recall on the ECU. Has anyone heard of this, to date VW haven't been that helpful...but have now confirmed that there isn't a recall on the car..any ideas?!?!

    Car is a 2004 Golf FSI 1.4

    Thanks...

I had the same issue with my 04 Golf 2.0 GT TDI 140.

After extensive fault finding and part swapping it looks like the issue was down to bad earth connections, especially the one under the battery. See my comments on thread here:

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...t=37180&page=6

I produced a full log of the fault which formed the basis of a Sale of Goods Act letter I sent to the dealer to gee them up when it looked like they were unable to fix the fault. Definately worth a read as it outlines everything they tried to fix the fault.

    You can find it here:

    https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0A...Uyc2g&hl=en_GB

Special mention to Isaac Agnew VW on the Bouchar Road in Belfast who had to put up with my endless nagging and a fault that had them totally baffled.
