    Hi All,
For a little while I have had a few niggling electrical issues. However a couple of days I left my car lights on so I needed to charge the battery no big problem just a bit of a plonker!!
I had a few issues before I left the light on here they are
1.Door card light has an intermittent issues (drivers side)
2.Cab light has an intermittent issue I think in line with the door card. So I assume both these work of the same switch?
    After batter re charge
1.Door Card light Does not work (drivers side)
2.Cab light does not turn on when open driver door (drivers side)
3.No light warning nose when I leave the car lights on and get out of the car (I think this is why I left them on)
4.Radio is not working but when I turn the side light on the radio back lights come on as usual.

I have looked at all the fuses but they all look fine. Does anyone know what fuse number controls the radio?
Let me know what you think the problem is and I will update you with my findings.

The door card light not illuminating can usually be traced to the micro switches on the locks

    Hi Dave,

Is the micro switch seprate from the lock or part of the lock. I am just thinking if I can change the switch rather than the whole lock?

Hi Mat, the micro switch is part of the door lock. However I have replaced one of these switches successfully, as I had the same problem as you have described. I got my new switch from the USA whilst on holiday. Have a look at this link; http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1542461
    Hope this helps.

Do you mean that when you have the car lights on, the blue and red illuminations come on. Do they go on and off when you press the on/off button on the radio? If so, I'm not sure if it'd be a fuse problem.

I had a similar problem when pulling my radio out to do something in that area, can't remember what. The radio came on, but with a slightly darkened display. It was during the day, so can't say if the blue and red were coming up. I pulled it out, checked connections werr tight and re-seated. Came on fine after that. Funny one.

When I turn the light on I get the RED background with no problem. I think the bluelighting came from the radio. I have not moved it but I will take it out and have a look. Does anyone have drawings on how to remove it? Its the standard tape deck.

You need the VW radio removal keys (couple of quid off fleaBay) or a pair of metal nail files will work, apparently.
