    Hi,
I've been offered an A3 with bluetooth interface, I am lead to believe that this does not incorporate a cradle and a means of charging the phone. Does anybody know if a cradle & charger can be retro fitted by a local Audi dealer?

Yes you can but the cradles are poor and expensive. Its easier to buy a cheap charger and use the bluetooth for calls. Much more cost effective IMO.

S3 pallas....i get the impression after reading your rants you either havent taken your medication or you have a lot of anger management issues and now you refer to being bummed leads me to think you were abused as a child and probably still are.....

A3 rick..my cradle was factory fitted and i bought my cradle used (only 4 weeks old allegedly!) off ebay and it works fine paid £37 as opposed to £100 from a dealer which really isnt worth that sort of money.

I would also look out to see if your phone is compatible with any cradle available. I have the blackberry curve and as of yet there is no cradle available. I'm presuming the cradle your referring to is the 'gsm phone prep'. This cradle will allow you to charge the phone, also offering better reception by the cars roof aerial. (if you have seen an A4 or A3 with a shark-fin looking aerial thats what its part of)
This can't be retro-fitted. As a whole unit.

The only other cradle is the one that sits next to the radio. In my opinion, I would just by a universal in-car phone charger, you may have one lying around in a draw somewhere at home and using that. The bluetooth will still work.

I'm thinking of getting a iPhone..but I note the Audi accessories site says you can buy generation 2/3 cradles for the apple - iphone (but not 3G). I didn't actually realise there was an older iPhone than the 3G???

has anyone successfully setup their iPhone to work both with the bluetooth car kit cradle on the dash (i.e. GSM prep) but also possibly with the iPod connector in the glovebox.

just wondering it would be great to have the iPhone charging and playing tunes in the glovebox and then the phone bluetooth'd to the GSM prep for when calls come in.

sounds like the utopian situation.....but I wonder if it's possible?
