Have a 1999 V reg Golf TDi 110 hp I am changing the cylinder head due to damage.
My question is where is the injection pump timing hole?
Have bought the camshaft locking tool but cannot see the injection pump timing hole it is either very small or you have to take the cog off which will loose the timing!!
There are three slotted bolts on the pump.
    Help!!

It must be possible to tell where the injection pump should be timed how do you do it if the cam belt breaks? or how do they do it at the factory?

I haven't time an injection pump, but i was readin somewheer, i wish i could remember, that to time the pump in properly you need a pump dial gauge. this basically tell you where the pump timing is. in not the same as locking it. as the timing on the gear is already set at the correct point.

This may be twadle, or at best slighty inaccurate but it should give you a few words to seacrh on at least.

(I think I going to ask my resident expert, my dads a (retired) mechanic )
